5 Manga, Comics & Novels You Should Read in 2025

If you’re looking for something to read in the coming year, besides my comics of course, boy do I have recommendations for you to read in 2025. In no particular order, here are my 2025 reading suggestions. Here we go.

5. The Dark Knight Returns (comic)

Before the comic book movie, was the comic book. I read this master piece for the first time this year, and it was amazing. I have never been one to obsess over superheroes (except Spiderman and Deadpool). It was just so good it made me want to get back into the genre. It is about a retired Batman coming back to Gotham when it needs him most. It’s dark. It’s brutal. It’s good. Read it.

4. Erased (manga)

A truly beautiful manga about a struggling mangaka (manga artist) who has a ability where he can send his consciousness back in time. He uses his abilities to attempt to save his mother and his childhood friends. It’s very different from the anime, in the best way possible. The ending was a chefs kiss. Check out Vol 1, to see if it’s for you. Read it.

3. The House on the Cerulean Sea (novel)

Every once and a while we need to be whisked away to another world. To escape or to reflect and although this world is similar to ours it whisked me away.

The House In The Cerulean Sea is about a by the book case worker for the department of magical youth. He is sent to a neatly tucked away “orphanage” on an island for class four magical youth (the highest level I guess, wish it was a cooler name but it makes sense in the corp world). Read it.

2. Promised Neverland (manga)

The anime was so bad. So so bad. However, the book, was amazing. It’s about orphans running against the clock for their survival. It’s some awesome fantasy, I highly recommend it. Give Vol 1 a shot. Read it.

1. 5 People You Meet In Heaven (novel)

if you want a book that will stick with you for a long time after you close the page this is for you. It’s a deep dive on death and life (in a fun way) through the meetings of… 5 people. This is one of those books that I close and think, man I hope that I can write something as wonderful as this one day. Read it.

Alright! Thanks for reading my short little blog. I hope you enjoy and read at least one of these books this year. Your brain will thank you.

And of course, if you still need something to read, check out some of my comics.

Have a wonderful 2025. – EJ
